Callout is built to keep everything in your building.
Your voice
Speech from the talkback mic is turned into text on the Mac running Callout, using Apple's on-device speech recognition, which nearly every Mac on macOS 14 or newer supports. On a Mac that can't recognize speech on the device, Apple's recognizer uses Apple's servers instead, under Apple's privacy policy. Callout itself doesn't record or keep audio, and doesn't send what you say anywhere.
The band page
The band page runs on your Mac, on your own network. Names, codes, requests and messages stay on that Mac and are never sent anywhere else. Private and group chats are shown only to the people in them and on the Callout Mac itself (the leader's screen), which can read every chat; the band page says so. Messages are kept only while Callout is open. Band members' codes are kept in the Mac's Keychain, and admin codes are stored only in scrambled form.
Updates
Callout checks this website for a newer version when it opens and once a day. That request includes nothing about you beyond what any web visit does (like your IP address and Callout's version). Callout has no accounts, ads, tracking or analytics.
The free trial
To count the 30-day trial, Callout keeps the date it started on the Mac itself: in its settings, in the Keychain, and in a small hidden file in the Mac's Shared folder, labeled with a scrambled form of the Mac's hardware ID so the trial can't simply be restarted. None of this is sent anywhere.
